Can you swim with a piercing?
Worried about the sea? Swimming in the sea is good for healing, as long as the water is clean. Just rinse your piercing with fresh water afterwards.
Want an easy way to keep cleaning on the go? Take the AphraHeals aftercare spray with you. (AphraHeals is meant for piercings only, not for tattoos.) For your tattoo, follow our tattoo aftercare instructions. Need extra balls or pins? Order them in our loose balls & pins section before you leave (our webshop ships to the Netherlands and Belgium).
Visiting Amsterdam?
Getting pierced while you’re on holiday here? Our first bar is a little longer to leave room for swelling, so plan a quick visit to the studio to swap it for a shorter one if you can.
- No time to wait? We’re open every day of the year from 10:30 to 22:00. Just walk in, no appointment needed.
- Worried about infection? We work with sterile, single-use tools.
- Questions in your own language? Our team speaks about six languages, including English and Dutch.
- Experience? We’ve been piercing since 1998, at Reguliersbreestraat 46 in Amsterdam.
- Between 12 and 16? Then you come with a parent. From 16 you can come on your own. See our minimum age page.
The following things are important when you go on holiday:
- Sunscreen cream with a high SPF (sun protection factor) to protect your tattoo.
- Extra balls for your piercing (1.2mm and 1.6mm).
- Extra piercing pins / posts.
- Oil to care for your stretched ears.
- AphraHeals wipes: take them along, handy for travel, in case your piercing gets infected.
