Monday 21 December is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year. It makes little difference to us: we're simply open until 22:00 (10 pm).

It gets dark early.
Very early.
Amsterdam switches on the lights.
People go home.
And us?
Someone will probably walk in at 21:43 and say:
“Do you still have time for a piercing?”

So in December we spend an impressive part of our day as if it's the middle of the night.
But there's something lovely about 21 December.
From now on, something tiny happens every day.
It stays light a little longer.
Barely noticeable at first.
A minute.
Another one.
Until months later you suddenly stand outside and think:
“Hey… it's still light.”
Change often works like that.
Not with fireworks.
Not all at once.
But little by little.
Maybe that's why a piercing can sometimes be such a nice marker too.
A small thing.
A small moment.
But you remember exactly when you did it.
The shortest day doesn't have to be the smallest moment.
